How to develop and optimize your site from zero?

This question comes up for everyone interested in SEO. This tutorial is the solid answer that everyone can use starting right now.

After reading Part I and Part II, it’s time for the next logical step in the tutorial – Part III. Here we will talk about optimizing and advancing your site (or blog) using article submission. There is going to be some cool SEO information shared here, so please pay attention.

What does it mean – optimization via articles?

Articles – is very effective optimization approach. Links in articles are surrounded with text, which is much more desirable by search engines. Links from articles look very natural. One more huge advantage of the article optimization – is that nobody really does it. It’s easier to just buy links, or many people are just lazy and doesn’t want to spend time writing them, many cannot write good articles, and most simply don’t understand the hidden potential and effect from this approach. This is good for us – the less people, the more for us.

What are the guidelines for articles?

I have been using optimization via articles for quite some time now. Below I will list main requirements to the articles you will be using to optimize your resource.

The best length of your article – is 1000-3000 characters. On average I recommend placing one link for every thousand characters. Links from the article must lead to the pages within one same domain. Usually I place one link to the main page and two to the internal pages. I don’t recommend placing more than 3 links in the article. This increases the chance that your article will not be published. Links in the body of the article need to be placed gradually and evenly, in between large paragraphs with text.

I create an html version of the article for many sites and article catalogs, which looks something like this:

<a href=”http://profitseo.com/”>article content here</a>

Some free article submission catalogs accept articles in the bb-code format, which means it will look something like this:

article content here

There is a small group of free article submission catalogs that allow you to place a simple text version of your article and then you can enter your link via highlighting the word and placing your link inside.

I recommend creating all three versions of your article before you go posting – bb-code, html, and simple text without any links in it. In the article itself, it’s a good idea to break it into paragraphs and also 1-2 times highlight the keywords with the <strong> tag (this works better with search engines than tag <b>, despite what Google insides have been saying). Also, prepare a simple text file with your name, contact email, keywords, and a short description of your article. Also, I recommend preparing “About author” in bb-code and html formats. You need this because when submitting in many catalogs, you are allowed to insert a link to your site. Remember, always look for ways to sneak in and take advantage of any resource you find.

How to optimize your article for the search request you need?

I recommend using the mid and low level requests. High-level requests optimization via articles is not likely to give you any significant results (you will need to use articles and other methods of optimization in order to achieve this, don’t worry we will get there in the future posts in this blog). The mid and low-level requests are just what we need for our article optimization.

First thing we need to do here is to use a keyword tool, the one I use a lot is Google Keyword Tool and enter our main keyword requests we are going to use for optimization. From the results we carefully choose the needed request, which will be a center of your article. I know I haven’t talked about working with this tool yet, I will in the future posts, stay tuned.

One important detail to remember is to use “readable” keywords. For example: instead of the “optimization site cost” use “site optimization cost”. Compare the statistics of the results with the readability of the actual requests. I know this sounds a bit complicated, but don’t worry, with time and a bit of keyboard play you will become a pro in no time:)

Before the inspiration you just got leaves you, let’s write one article today (I mean it, do it today). The header, as we all know, has to be based on the chosen keyword. Also, of course, make the text (content) based on the keyword as well. Remember to use the chosen keyword request in the text 3-5 times. This is important moment (please focus) – do not overload your article with keywords, no decent article catalog will accept an article that is a keyword and link junkyard.

The best results I got making one link to the main page of my site with the needed request for the main page, and the two other links with the text to two internal pages of my site (deep linking, we will cover it in the future posts as well, I promise).

What strategy to use in optimizing via articles?

Usually I write 2-4 articles a month for optimization. Every article is placed in all article catalogs. When using paid article submission catalogs I also use the “one article for all sites” strategy. I publish on average two articles on 4-6 sites. I use different articles for free and paid submissions. As you would have done it, I use a higher quality articles for the paid submissions, making them interesting and useful. When publishing your articles in the paid submission catalogs you can get a decent amount of traffic to your site. The average paid submission catalogs charge about $10 per article.

For free submission catalogs I write more general articles. I wouldn’t say they are lower quality, rather I spend less time writing them.

How to find article catalogs?

Ideally, I probably shouldn’t have written this particular paragraph. Normally, I would just give a list of catalogs. It doesn’t mean I became greedy or I don’t ave a list in my stash:) The reason why I decided not to put a list out is because previously people have emailed me asking not to place them out in the open, since they get spammed and become less effective quickly. This is why I decided to give you a tool (a method) to actually create your very own list of submission catalogs. Pretty cool idea isn’t it?

To find article catalogs quickly you need to type the following requests in the search engine of your choice (mine is Google):

article catalogs
add article

To find a thematic catalogs (matching your site’s direction) use the following requests:

article catalogs “Batman fans”
add article “drawing Batman”

Instead of the Batman phrases insert your ideas, unless of course you are he:)

I recommend to create an excel table and insert your addresses there with the comments for each entry (for example: paid additions, additions via email, 3 days to get published, and so on). Also, I recommend to separate your catalogs into the categories such as submission in html, bb-code, or text with links via interface. I also like to highlight catalogs with different colors depending on their PageRank (always loved them crayons).

How to check the article uniqueness?

To check if the article is unique I recommend using the free service – Copyscape.

I cannot write articles, where can I buy one?

There are many places online you can purchase articles from. I personally haven’t done it, and don’t recommend anyone either. I am a strong believer that there is no such word as “cannot”, – don’t be lazy, get yourself together and start writing. You will take this first step and become confident and happy because you did it, not someone else who might not do a very good job either by the way. The best way to get better is to start doing, no excuses.

Is it a good idea to have several links going to my site from the same catalog?

It can only be good to have links coming to your site (except from sites listed as spam sites by Google). I recommend not adding several articles to one catalog at once, but rather spread them out by letting some time pass between the additions. This is why I usually add 1-4 articles a month.

How do I monitor the effects from the article submission?

I use Google Analytics to monitor the increases in traffic and referring sites. I also use Yahoo Site Explorer to see the inbound links (this is the only major and free webmaster service that shows them). When using Site Exlorer choose Inlinks (inbound links) and Except from this domain (so that your internal links between your site pages don’t show up). To show links to all pages you have to choose Entire Site option.

Can I use images in articles?

If your article is presented better with the image, insert it. Make sure the image is formatted to fit the size requirements. Try to make sure it is the highest quality possible within the size limits given. Also, remember to make sure the image is a link itself, especially if you are placing your article on the high traffic site – this will result in additional visitors to your site.

Note to self:

A good man draws a circle around himself and cares for those within – his woman, his children.  Other men draw a larger circle and bring within their brothers and sisters.  But some men have a great destiny.  They must draw around themselves a circle that includes many, many more. You must decide for yourself whether you are that man.”

  1. Sir i have two questions.

1:- Can we add the same article in 6, 7 articles site.
2:- Sir i need list of articles website recommended by profitseo.com (Free sites)

  2. No problem. Yes you can add the same article to 6, 7 sites, however search engines might count it as spam if too many identical articles come up online. I showed how to find those sites properly. I am sure you don’t mind a bit of work and will have no problem finding sites yourself. Good luck!
