Site Content – How to Get Content that is King
“Of all the liars in the world, sometimes the worst are your own fears” – Rudyard Kipling (English short-story writer, poet, and novelist. Nobel Prize (1907), 1865-1936)
Hi all. Welcome back! Once again, the goal here is to go ahead and think critically. I am certain, this is the one most important thing we can do to better our existence on this planet. I believe in humanity, I believe in human species, I believe in Good and that it will prevail. How sweet.
Ok, enough of drama, let’s get down to business. So, site content is king they say? Sure, why not. I tend to think of it as a dog food, dogs being search engine spiders. Let’s see where we can get some high quality dog food for these puppies.
Now, let’s note really quickly that many SEO firms out there specialize in site content creation. They usually want a set financial compensation for their work. Also, many people (including some SEO firms) like to generate content by scraping and spinning it to make it unique. This would be all fine and dandy, but Matt Cutts, Google, and Lady Gaga are watching.
So, now what? We want unique, relevant, and intelligent site content. We want lots of it. We want it for free.
When there’s a will, there’s a way.
Visual Comments is a way or a form for commenting via Echo Comments. A little detail here is that all comments are generated and displayed in javascript. This means that in Google’s cache instead of text we will see this little line:
Please note, this means that the comments are not indexed by Google. Google doesn’t read javascript, despite what the superman says here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce6cLrrfS5E. The video is from 2009, we are now in 2011. But wait, Google will get better and smarter and will read and know everything soon. Be afraid. Continuing.
This site, at the very least, has over 7KB of content. This content is unique. The most important news here is that this content is not garbage but intelligent and relevant information entered by people knowledgeable in this area. Here is a quick screen-shot to see it before our eyes:
The possibilities are limitless here. There are so many ways to use this, I am afraid to even imagine what some of you are thinking right now. Important thing here is to check the uniqueness of the content. Don’t just take my word for it. Here is one of the fast checks I did:
As we can see, a program found “get the hang of“, which is used in many places in English. Because of this, the uniqueness is at 98% instead of 100%.
So, let’s continue getting the hang of this information a little further. The whole thing feels like there is something missing. You are right, it’s automation that’s missing. Let’s automate the process a bit. Echo Comments lets us subscribe to the RSS feed of these comments, which means we will have all this content in RSS format in our mailboxes. Here is the link for this example: http://js-kit.com/rss/www.insightcreativetech.com/p=347
Following the path above, we get content that’s unique and massive. Below is a screen-shot of a page with this site content. It is approximately 7KB of it here, and it all came from a single post.
Finally, let’s go ahead and think about finding these blogs in the first place. I have to admit, initially I run into some problems here. Since the comments are posted inside the javascript, they are not indexed, which means the comment form itself is not indexed either. This means, we cannot execute parsing via Google. Now what? Well, since we are critical thinkers, let’s do what we do best. Echo Comments has it’s own blog, which we quickly found here http://blog.aboutecho.com/. Once there, we go ahead and click on any post and look around to see of commenters have their own blogs. To see this, we simply place the mouse cursor on the commenter’s name. Here is a visual:
That’s how I found the blog shown in the example.
A little detail to remember, is that the RSS feeds will keep coming with each new comment from each blog post. This is a huge and never ending pool of site content. Yes, this will remain true until Google learns to read javascript, time travel, and project huge easter bunnies into the space.
Thanks again for participating in yet another critical thinking adventure!
